Coconut tree..

                          The coconut is a palm tree. It is the most useful of trees. We use all the parts of a coconut tree. The kernel of the young nut is eaten and its water is a refreshing drink. The milk is got from the kernel of the mature nut. The coconut milk is used in cooking and to make sweets. The kernel is dried. It is called copra. Coconut oil is extracted from copra. Coir is mde from soaked husk of the dry nut to make ropes.

                           The rope is used to weave floor, covering and rugs. Coir dust is used in gardens manure. Spoons are made from the hard shell of the nut.

                               We get timber, firewood, leaves for shelter and make decorations from the coconut tree. The flower of the coconut tree is used in our cultrural and religious festivals.
